IRR - Individual Ready Reserve - Where the Army places soldiers who have served some of their enlistment time but are not active for various reasons but to be called up at any time in case of war.
Here we use it just to stick people that we haven't heard from in a while or have problems and we think they will return. Usually we only vacate people who either quit or we want to get rid of them.

I'll repost what I sent to Silver:

As far as putting them on IRR - If they are going to be inactive for just a few weeks you go into roster edit mode, click edit by their name, and there will be a section on that page to mark them inactive, and the reason, and a return date if known. If they have disappeared and are not responding, we put them into an IRR slot if we need to free up a slot for a new recruit. This way, we don't actually delete them, as they could have a computer/internet issue. After a few months we just delete them from IRR. You place them into IRR by first marking them inactive with a reason, and then 'move' them to an empty 82nd_IR.. slot.

The reason why we edit their roster and mark them 'inactive' and give reasons is that when done, they show up in your roster (in edit mode) with blinking status, like 'inactive', 'hardware issues', ect. and if you hover your mouse over the status, it will give details, if you did. So it makes it easier to take stock of your roster. In IRR, it helps us determine who might return and who probably won't. Currently IRR is a mess, I need to start deleting those, as most don't have any status reasons attached to them. It is on my 'TODO' list to make moves to IRR also handle the status info in one action.
